Antibes Interiors was named after the beautiful town of Antibes in France where I spent 10 months working on an award-winning apartment building. My time there, more than 13 years ago now, continues to inspire me.
The experience was hugely beneficial to my work ethic and feeds my passion to this day.
My story
I moved to England in 2005 and began working for a building company based in Cambridge. From the start I worked on many interesting projects from the house of Paul McCartney’s neighbour, close to Abbey Road, to a home in the rural Welsh village of Cwm-Parc.
In March 2006 I took a leap of faith and formed a building partnership with a friend, Vojtek, a salesman in the building industry.
Our business picked up quickly as we found jobs through eBay advertising, recommendations and referrals. Our combined skills made for a very successful business and together we worked on projects all across England.
In 2007 a family from Birmingham hired us to work on a new home they intended to fix up and sell. It turned out to be an apartment in Antibes, France.
We were thrilled.
I had worked in France before and always dreamed of going back. So, I left the UK and travelled to Cannes. It was a wonderful place to live and work. The apartment block had been voted the most beautiful apartment building in Antibes, and our project involved a complete reconstruction of the 350m2 floorplan, converting it into two smaller apartments.
For 10 months I worked in this incredible location. We were responsible for everything from demolition to erecting new walls, plumbing and electrical jobs, tiling, suspended ceilings and decorating (including a lot of Venetian Stucco). I spent most of my time working on the apartment, whilst Vojtek ran our business back in England.
Once the job was complete, I returned briefly to Poland for the birth of my daughter and then my family joined me in England where I continued to run the business with Vojtek. Not long after, in 2008, Vojtek followed his heart back to Poland, leaving me to run the business by myself.
Inspired by my time in Antibes, I renamed the business Antibes Interiors and began to specialise in high-end, luxury bathrooms.
Since then, my business has thrived thanks to my dedication and passion, and the support of my clients, many of whom have become close family friends.
I’ve now spent more than 23 years working in this industry, having set a high bar in my early career working in luxury apartments and houses, I am now one of the most experienced and highly-rated professionals in the South West.
My Work Ethic
Here are some things you might like to know about me, personally:
- I am polite
I don’t smoke or drink. I don’t listen to loud music (although I do enjoy a bit of AC/DC) and I like to keep my workspace clean, with a little help from my best friend Henry.
- I am hard-working
This job is my life and my passion. I always work to the best of my ability and strive to give my client everything they want and need.
- I am a perfectionist.
I like to work carefully and avoid wasting time and money correcting avoidable mistakes. The devil is in the details. I always pay attention to the smallest details, even if they will not be visible in later stages. Usually these are the things that cause major problems when overlooked at the beginning.
- I have high standards.
I always try to use the best materials and products available, as this usually saves my clients a lot of worry (and money) in the future. With 23 years of experience, I know what it takes to create a luxury space that is second to none.
- I come highly recommended.
Many past customers have become family friends thanks to the great relationships I have formed with them. Customers appreciate my diligence and accuracy and are always happy to recommend my services.
